The UUFWC has a vibrant Children’s Religious Education Program (RE) with more than 85 children registered. Our group of dedicated and trained volunteer teachers explore the seven Unitarian Universalist Principles with the children as a framework upon which they can explore their beliefs. Our goal is to nurture the developing faith and spirituality of children, not to indoctrinate them with one right way of being in the world. Questions are encouraged! Below you will find relevant information to our children’s RE program.

Our Seven UU Principles in child friendly language:

-Respect all people

-Offer fair and kind treatment to all

-Yearn to accept and learn about ourselves, others, and mystery

-Grow by exploring what is true and right in life

-Believe in our ideas and act on them

-Insist on a peaceful, fair, and free world for all

-Value our home, the earth, which we share with all living things

What to Expect on Sundays

From September through May, services are held at 9:30 and 11:00 am. Over the summer, there is only one service which is offered at 10 am (Read more about UUFWC summer Sundays here).

RE classes are offered for children in preschool through grade 8 during the 9:30am service.

At 11:00, the service is open to all ages and the High School Youth (grades 9-12) meet in the youth room. You can get more information about the Youth Community here.

A staffed nursery is open during both services for children up to 3 1/2 years old where babies and toddlers are welcome to play for the entire hour.

During the 9:30am service, Pre-K-8th grade children begin seated in the sanctuary with their parents to participate in all-age appropriate worship that includes music, lighting our chalice, and a story-based Time for All Ages. After a Time for All Ages, the children are escorted to the classrooms for the remainder of the service. Following the service, parents should pick younger children up at their classroom at 10:40am; children from 4th grade and up are released to find their parents.
