Special RE programming is scheduled throughout the year outside of our Sunday service times.
Our Whole Lives
OWL is a series of lifespan sexuality education curricula. UUFWC offers classes for elementary ages (grades 1-2 and grades 4th-6th), Junior High (grades 7-9), and Senior High (grades 10-12). OWL helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their bodies, sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, “Our Whole Lives” provides not only facts about anatomy and human development, but helps participants to clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality. Extensive information about OWL (Our Whole Lives) classes can be found at the UUA website: http://www.uua.org/re/owl.
Coming of Age (COA)
Coming of Age: Deepening Ties Within Your Congregation is a year long program for 9th and 10th graders that is designed to acknowledge the transition between childhood and youth. It’s a vibrant program focusing on the youths themselves and their unique journeys. With the help of mentors, participants explore life’s big questions and develop a personal value system. Their year will culminate in a Coming of Age service when the participants share their personal statements of faith with the congregation.
