Rev. Elaine Strawn
Our Fellowship has been in existence in Wayne County since 1972. In 1992 we called our first minister, and in 1996 we purchased our first building. We have grown every year for the past decade and presently have about 170 members.

  • Learn more about our history [here]
  • Our Fellowship is governed by a Board consisting of our minister, V. Elaine Strawn, and seven persons elected from among the congregation's members. The minister is chosen by the Fellowship. Standing committees (see descriptions below) also do much of the work.

  • Our Mission
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Wayne County is an inclusive spiritual community; its commitment is to social justice for the individual, the community, and the environment.
    Our Principles
There are seven principles which we (and all Unitarian Universalist congregations) affirm and promote:
    • The inherent worth and dignity of every person.
    • Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations.
    • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our Fellowship.
    • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning.
    • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process in our Fellowship and in society at large.
    • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.
    • The respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
    We are a Welcoming Congregation
We are a caring, open-minded spiritual community where people are accepted for who they are, rather than who others believe they should be.   [learn more]
    We are a Breakthrough Congregation
Our fellowship was named a Breakthrough Congregation by the UUA--one of only four honored in 2008.   [learn more]
