lgbt inclusion
We extend a warm welcome to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and their families. We offer a place where LGBTs can openly gather to nurture their spirits and put their faith into action by helping to make our communities--and the world--a better place.

UU Clergy • Unitarian Universalism is one of the few religions that ordains openly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. UU LGBT clergy (who are permitted to partner or marry) participate fully in our faith community as pastors in some of our largest congregations.

UUFWC: A Welcoming Congregation • We have always welcomed the LGBT community and have been certified as a Unitarian Universalist Association Welcoming Congregation since 2001. We are inclusive and expressive of the concerns of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons at every level of congregational life—in worship, in program, and in social occasions, welcoming not only their presence but the unique gifts they bring to our community.

Life Gets Better Together • Our new LGBT group meets the 2nd Saturday of each month at 7:00 pm at UUFWC. The group's mission is to provide support, education and socializing! The meeting is open to all LGBT & Allies. For more information email: lgbt.uufwc@gmail.com

PFLAG • The local chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Gays and Lesbians) meets the 3rd Thursday of most months at 7:00 pm at UUFWC. Call our local Hot Line at (330) 264-7396 for support and to confirm the next meeting time and date.

PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG's local and national efforts provide opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and act to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. Ohioans for Marriage Equality • Ohioans for Marriage Equality (OME) meets the 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm at UUFWC.

A regional organization based in Wooster, OME promotes equality and justice for all people and strives to ensure the right of civil marriage, and the legal protections it provides, for all couples. Their goal is to educate the public about the discriminatory realities faced by gay and lesbian couples and to promote equal access to the rights and obligations of civil marriage for both same-gender and mixed-gender couples. OME sponsors a wide range of events. OME hosts speakers, discussions, and movie nights. OME gives presentations to churches and other groups and has created displays at the library. In October 2009, OME organized Wooster's first ever LGBT rights rally. Learn more about OME's activities by visiting their facebook page. [here]
