In order to help your child get the most out of
his or her experiences at UUFWC, we offer the following suggestions:
Encourage, but do not force, regular attendance—Children
who attend regularly feel like participants, and do not feel “left
out” because they’ve missed something, They will
certainly get a better understanding of the curriculum, especially
since many units of study last several weeks.
Show an interest—Ask your child what went on in R.E. groups
each week and encourage discussion of his or her opinions. (This
is probably not a good idea for the very young children, as their
standard answer will be “Nothing”. They will be forthcoming
sometime later if you don’t ask.)
Stay informed—The newsletter lists special events, service
projects, or any special outings related to religious education.
Get to know your child’s facilitators, too. Ask to visit
your child’s group.
Share YOUR beliefs—Let your child know your religious beliefs.
Talk about how you act on your beliefs about fairness, tolerance,
etc., and provide your child with opportunities to do so as well.
Explain why you chose this fellowship and what it means to you.
Volunteer to help—In this way, you will be modeling the
volunteerism that sustains
our fellowship and denomination. |
